The theoretical backbone for several of Bhat’s other works (Books 08, 14, and 26), covering the characteristics of sound change, assimilation, dissimilation, comparative reconstruction, and internal reconstruction. Bhat’s mahaprana argument (Book 08) is essentially applied sound change theory.
